Los Angeles Guitar Quartet

Thirty years young in 2010-11, the Grammy Award-winning LAGQ is one of the most multifaceted groups in any genre. The LAGQ is comprised of four uniquely accomplished musicians bringing a new energy to the concert stage with programs ranging from Bluegrass to Bach. They consistently play to sold-out houses world-wide. Their inventive, critically acclaimed transcriptions of concert masterworks provide a fresh look at the music of the past, while their interpretations of works from the contemporary and world-music realms continually break new ground.

Phil Proctor

Phil Proctor is an award-winning actor, singer, writer and producer and a co-founder of the thrice-Grammy-nominated Firesign Theatre, whose album, Don’t Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers, was inducted into the Library of Congress as an historical recording. Over half a decade, he’s performed on and off‐Broadway, at the Mark Taper, South Coast Rep, the Falcon Theatre and the Theatre @ Boston Court, toured the US, Canada, and the former Soviet Union and is a long‐time member of the award‐winning Antaeus Classical Theatre Company, most recently appearing in The Curse of Oedipus.

Jeffrey Holmes

The music of composer Jeffrey Holmes has been called “Captivating…haunting and slightly disorienting” (Los Angeles Times), and “musically arresting, to be really heard and deserving of reflection” (Society of Composers, INC).  His music has been performed at festivals including the Darmstadt Ferienkurs für Neue Musik (Germany), June in Buffalo (New York), Etchings Festival (Auvillar, France), and in venues including Carnegie Hall (New York), the Historic Dvorak Museum (Prague), and the Chapelle historique de Bon-Pasteur (Montreal). He has received commissions and performances from the American Composers Forum, ASCAP, bass-baritone Nicholas Isherwood, the JACK Quartet, Ensemble Sound Initiative (Paris), and others.

Vladimir Gorbach

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Vladimir Gorbach has captivated audiences across Europe, Australia, the United States and his native country of Russia. His international success began when he was accepted into the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now" outreach program. He then went on to win many international guitar competitions and prizes in Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Greece and most recently at the 2011 Guitar Foundation of America earning him a full season concert tour throughout North America, including at Debut Carnegie Hall, NY; Canada, Mexico, South America, and China, in addition to a publication with Mel Bay and a recording for Naxos label distributed worldwide.

Los Angeles Percussion Quartet

Since 2009, the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, or LAPQ, has forged a distinct identity as a world-class contemporary chamber music ensemble who is dedicated to commissioning and presenting new works for percussion quartets. Originally, members Nick Terry, Matt Cook, Justin DeHart, and Cory Hills joined together to create a classical percussion ensemble that would champion the important contributions of 20th century West Coast composers while collaborating with local artists to continue the tradition of innovation and exploration. Today, the group continues their mission while broadening creative output through recordings, performances, and educational outreach.

Janelle DeStefano

American mezzo-soprano, Janelle DeStefano, enjoys the entire gamut of classical singing, from opera and oratorio to recital and chamber music. Praised for her “passionate delivery” and “rich seamless voice,” she has rendered dramatic performances in such diverse concert works as the Monteverdi Vespers, Bach’s B minor Mass, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Mahler's Fourth Symphony, Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity, Zeisl’s Hebrew Requiem, Szymanowsky’s Stabat Mater and the U.S. premier of Peter Eötvös, Schiller: Energische Schoenheit.

L.A. Flamenco

L.A. Flamenco joins Laguna Beach Music Festival from Los Angeles and brings extensive flamenco performance experience to the Laguna Beach Playhouse stage. Working with L.A.’s premier dancers, choreographer, Wendy Castellanos brings enthralling dance to the Festival week.

Wendy Castellanos is a versatile dancer and choreographer with Classical, Modern, Jazz, Flamenco and Latin Dance training. She is a graduate of UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures where she studied dance and multi-disciplinary stage production. For the past decade Wendy has performed in the most prominent Flamenco venues in the city, danced in various Los Angeles Opera productions, and has even been a showgirl at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. She has professional experience in the arts as a performer, instructor, choreographer and arts administrator.
